How was the Battle of Lexington such a big turning point in History?
How was the Battle of Lexington such a big turning point in history? Well, the battle was the initial step toward America becoming a free country. The Battle of Lexington was the first battle in the American Revolution. The fight was between the British army and everyday average American towns folk. "The shot heard 'round the world," as it was noted in Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Concord Hymn" was the first shot fired. Which side it was fired from remain unknown to this day. The Battle was held in Lexington and Concord and at the end of the Battle the Americans went home with the victory and began to prepare their forces for war in hopes of beating the British in the war and fully take over the colonies.
If the American colonists never stood up for themselves and their country, (causing the Battle of Lexington and Concord and later on, the Revolutionary War), America would still be under British control. Although many American and British men died, these battles will always be a major turning point in history. If that one single shot was never fired, there may not have been any war that separated America from Britain, preventing America from being a free country. Such a little thing can turn into something that will affect America'a fate forever.
